A parcel may not exceed the following measurements:

The sum of the three measurements (2 times the width + 2 times the height + 1 times the length) should not exceed 3m.

I want to send bulky items. What should I keep in mind?2021-06-01T07:37:24+00:00

GLS has an automatic sorting system based on conveyor belts. This means that some shipments, due to the size or external packaging of the parcels, may not be able to move properly.

At the GLS hubs and branches, these shipments are manually sorted and scanned as “out of standard”, which incurs a surcharge.

These include, among others:

  • Sacks, tyres, rolled items including rolls of fabric, jars, plastic buckets, wooden crates.
  • Parcels with protruding parts.

As a general rule, goods or merchandise that are prohibited by any law of the country of origin or of the consignee, or that involve any type of sanction, either because of their content, the ownership of the consignee or of the client, are excluded from the transport carried out by GLS.

I want my shipments to be insured. What is the standard insurance? Is it possible to obtain additional insurance?2022-01-05T14:47:31+00:00

GLS assumes responsibility for any loss or damage to parcels in its custody. GLS is not liable for consequential damages such as loss of profits. If the sender has not taken out any transport insurance, GLS will compensate the value of the goods beyond the legal limitation with a maximum of €750.00 for international shipments and €520.00 for domestic shipments.

The value of the goods is defined according to the cost of production. For second-hand goods, the current value is taken into account and for goods sent on the occasion of an auction the auction price will be the lowest amount in each particular case. Additional information can be found in the GLS Spain Terms and Conditions. Agree with GLS to take out additional insurance and contact your branch office for more information.
