GLS has an automatic sorting system based on conveyor belts. This means that some shipments, due to the size or external packaging of the parcels, may not be able to move properly.
At the GLS hubs and branches, these shipments are manually sorted and scanned as “out of standard”, which incurs a surcharge.
These include, among others:
- Sacks, tyres, rolled items including rolls of fabric, jars, plastic buckets, wooden crates.
- Parcels with protruding parts.
